Reverse Austin uses emerging technology, portable high resolution 3D laser scanners, to capture customers’ dimensional information and then uses sophisticated software to convert the information into formats supported by Computer Aided Design (CAD), Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) and Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) software. This process is typically referred to as Reverse Engineering or, more recently, Digital Shape Sampling and Processing (DSSP).
When converted to CAD/CAM formats, the information can be used to verify design compliance, for adaptive machining or to design mating components, improved components, fixtures, tooling, packaging, etc. Designed items may then be manufactured by Rapid Prototyping or Rapid Manufacturing techniques using state-of-the-art 3D printers or by sophisticated CNC machining methods.
When converted to CGI formats, the information can be used for animations, movies, video games, etc.
Reverse Austin strives to meet customers’ needs and to exceed customers’ expectations by creating highly accurate information in a wide variety of data formats and then using that information to manufacture components to the highest standards in the shortest possible times.
Reverse Austin was founded by Tom Waits and concentrates on providing services to customers in the Central Texas area.
